Spot Hunting – targeted removal of freckles and pigmentation spots

At Dr. Mari Laasma Laser and Aesthetic Clinic, the Fotona StarWalker® laser is used to effectively remove individual freckles and pigmentation spots in a treatment known as Spot Hunting. The key advantage of this method is its ability to precisely target and customize the treatment to individual spots.

Using StarWalker’s patented MaQX pulse technology, pigmentation in the skin is broken down photoacoustically into microscopic particles, which are then naturally eliminated through the lymphatic system – all without damaging the surrounding skin. The photoacoustic reaction reduces pigment to ultra-fine dust, a result not achievable with other laser technologies.

The procedure is quick and well tolerated, causing only minimal discomfort. Patients may experience mild redness or swelling in the treated areas.

Results become visible gradually over several weeks to months, and additional sessions may be needed depending on the pigmentation.

Pre- and Post-Treatment Guidelines

  • Significant redness may occur on the first day after the procedure, followed by mild redness for an additional day.
  • According to protocol, up to 6 treatments may be performed, spaced about 2–3 weeks apart.
  • If possible, it’s important to address the underlying cause of the pigmentation and avoid contributing factors.
  • Sun exposure must be avoided before and after the treatment until the skin has fully healed.
