Carboxytherapy for the face and under the eyes

An effective skin-rejuvenating and revitalizing treatment that works from within. It’s also an excellent solution for various challenging skin concerns, including dark under-eye circles.

During carboxytherapy, medical-grade carbon dioxide (CO₂) is introduced into the skin and subcutaneous tissues, triggering the body’s natural regeneration processes:

  • Enhances blood and lymphatic circulation, reducing puffiness under the eyes
  • Improves tissue oxygenation
  • Stimulates collagen production, improving skin tone and elasticity
  • Reduces scars and skin irregularities
  • Tightens enlarged pores
  • Helps with couperose and pigmentation issues

What are the main indications for carboxytherapy?

  • Dark under-eye circles
  • Eye bags
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Scars
  • Double chin
  • Sagging skin
  • Pigmentation spots
  • Couperose
  • Enlarged pores

What are the benefits of the procedure?

  • Safe
  • Minimal downtime
  • Quick – takes only about 15 minutes
  • Long-standing medical use – carboxytherapy has been used in medicine for over 70 years

How is carboxytherapy performed at Dr. Mari Laasma’s Aesthetic Clinic?

At the clinic, we use the CARBO2 HPT device.
During the procedure, a controlled amount of carbon dioxide is injected under the skin, where it acts locally for 4–5 minutes. It is then absorbed and eliminated through the kidneys and lungs. A mild swelling and redness may appear at the injection site, usually subsiding within a couple of days.

The CO₂ momentarily lowers oxygen levels in the tissues. To compensate, the body sends oxygen-rich blood to the area, expanding blood vessels and improving capillary permeability. This improved circulation activates cellular functions, including collagen production and the breakdown of fat cells.
The result is smoother, firmer, and more youthful skin.

How many sessions are needed?

We recommend 6 to 8 sessions spaced one week apart. The course can be repeated after 6–8 months.
For optimal results, carboxytherapy can be combined with mesotherapy or the iPRF procedure during the same session, depending on the skin concern.

What are the contraindications for carboxytherapy?

  • Active inflammation at the injection site
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Fever
  • Cardiovascular diseases

What should be avoided after the procedure?

  • Do not wash the treated area for 6 hours after the procedure. Avoid swimming and saunas for 24 hours.
  • Until swelling and redness subside, avoid applying heat or cold to the treated area.
