Intimate area procedures and surgeries

As modern aesthetic medicine has taken a multidisciplinary turn, aesthetic procedures are no longer limited to wrinkle fillers, as they were just a few years ago. Aesthetics has taken on a much broader meaning, encompassing all aspects of beauty from head to toe — whether it’s hair, skin, muscles, body weight, posture, teeth, or the intimate area.
We are proud to support women not only in enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the face and body but also in addressing their most intimate concerns. For us, a woman is a whole being, and only a woman who is in harmony with her body can be confident, radiant, and beautiful.

Intimate area procedures and intimate surgery have been gaining increasing popularity in recent years. That’s why we now offer them at the Gynecology Unit of Dr. Mari Laasma’s Laser and Aesthetic Clinic, where they are performed by highly experienced gynecologist and aesthetic medicine physician Dr. Lasarus Mitrofanoff.

If a woman is not satisfied with her intimate area and this affects her self-esteem or causes tension in her relationship, she should not have to accept this situation. A woman can feel complete, happy, and attractive only when she feels comfortable and confident in her body — even during the most intimate moments. Don’t be ashamed to seek help for your most personal concerns — we are here to truly help you.

Why choose Dr. Mari Laasma’s Laser and Aesthetic Clinic for intimate surgery?

Because intimate surgery is such a delicate topic, choosing a trustworthy doctor and clinic is a crucial decision. Starting the process requires a preliminary consultation with a gynecologist. It’s essential to determine whether the planned procedure is suitable, for instance, for women who have not yet given birth, to avoid complications in future childbirth. A gynecologist is best qualified to perform intimate procedures and surgeries due to their deep knowledge of anatomy and ability to assess tissue elasticity both before and after surgery. Their approach goes beyond aesthetics — they always respect the sensitivity of the area, aiming to ensure a fulfilling and pleasurable intimate life for each patient.

Fast and painless recovery is also a top priority so that the patient can return to intimate life as soon as possible. All procedures and surgeries are performed under local anesthesia. Thanks to Dr. Mitrofanoff’s extensive experience and thorough explanations, the procedures are generally well-tolerated and virtually painless.

With a holistic approach, a deep knowledge base, and up-to-date awareness of current gynecological trends, Dr. Mitrofanoff also advises women on menopause-related concerns and issues of lifestyle and healthy longevity.

What is labiaplasty (labial reduction)?

Labiaplasty is one of the most common intimate surgeries. It involves reshaping the labia to improve both aesthetic appearance and functional comfort.
In about 99% of cases, surgery is performed for functional reasons. Oversized or elongated labia can cause discomfort during sex, sports, or while wearing tight clothing. They may also lead to hygiene issues or urination problems.
An undesired appearance of the vulva can also affect a woman’s self-confidence in intimate relationships.

At Dr. Mari Laasma’s Clinic, both the labia majora and labia minora can be reshaped. The procedure involves removing excess tissue and suturing the area.

Labiaplasty is safe with a low risk of complications. Results are typically noticeable within 6 months to 1–2 years after surgery. Recovery time is around one week, during which heavy physical activity should be avoided. Sexual activity may resume 4–6 weeks post-op. This surgery is generally recommended for women who have already given birth, as it may affect tissue elasticity important for childbirth.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

This can be performed along with labiaplasty. Most commonly, it involves removing excess loose skin around the clitoris for both functional and aesthetic improvement.

Who are intimate filler injections for?

The pubic area (Mons pubis) is considered one of the most sensual parts of the female anatomy.

Just like the rest of the body, the intimate area ages. Labia majora lose fat and become saggy, which affects their appearance and can cause discomfort during sex. Vaginal walls also thin with age, often resulting in vaginal dryness, making intercourse uncomfortable or even painful.
Women usually seek hyaluronic acid filler injections either for aesthetic reasons or to restore function.

Restoring volume to the labia majora improves hydration and gives a more youthful appearance, which boosts confidence and enhances pleasure during intimacy. Fuller labia majora can also help cover and protect the labia minora for a more balanced appearance.

What is G-spot augmentation?

This procedure involves injecting a specially formulated filler into the G-spot area to enhance its sensitivity and improve sexual pleasure.

How are external hemorrhoids removed?

External hemorrhoids are treated under local anesthesia. A surgical method may be combined with laser treatment — the veins are removed either surgically or with a laser. Internal hemorrhoids can also be treated under local anesthesia, and the exact treatment plan is decided after examination.

Why is botulinum toxin injected into the intimate area?

Botulinum toxin is used to treat vulvodynia — a chronic pain condition affecting the external genitalia — especially when other treatments have failed. It can affect women of any age.
The treatment works by relaxing the overactive muscles in the painful area.
The injections are done on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia, making the procedure painless. The effect typically begins 1–3 weeks after treatment.

Who is vaginoplasty (vaginal tightening) for?

After childbirth — particularly after multiple or complicated births involving tearing — many women notice changes in their intimate area and sexual satisfaction.
There may be visible aesthetic changes and a decrease in sensitivity that affects intimate relationships.
Even women who haven’t given birth may experience issues due to congenital factors such as an overly wide vaginal canal. Additionally, aging and hormonal changes can cause vaginal laxity.
Although vulvovaginal laxity is not a disease, it can significantly reduce quality of life. Yet many women hesitate to bring up these issues with their gynecologist.

In milder cases, laser and carboxytherapy treatments can effectively tighten the vagina. In more serious cases, surgical intervention (vaginoplasty) is needed.
This involves restoring and tightening both the vaginal canal and the perineal (area between vagina and anus) region.

If the concern is mainly aesthetic or related to an enlarged vaginal opening (hymenal ring), perineoplasty may be sufficient.
However, if laxity affects both the outer genitalia and the deeper vaginal canal, a more extensive procedure may be required. In such cases, surgery involves the perineum and approximately 4–6 cm into the vaginal canal.

Post-operative recovery time is three weeks. During this period, patients should avoid heavy physical activity, exercise, and sexual intercourse.
